Vacations are the BEST! This past holiday weekend did not have the typical weather of glorious sunshine and welcoming beaches, but it was perfect for hiking, mountain biking and sleepy, quiet mornings. It's amazing how much one can rejuvenate from a sound sleep. Apparently only 21% of Americans get the recommended 7-8 hours of sleep and many of us just survive 6 or less. We are living in a sleep deficit and sometimes vacations are the perfect opportunity to reset your body. After we are rested, there is a sense of brain clarity, renewed energy, creativity and sense of wellbeing. In fact, according to the good body.com, "you can even lose a pound of weight during a night sleep simply by exhaling". Sleeping in longer can be a real challenge when parenting small kiddos, so when that doesn't work, consider a nap and add snuggling as it can be the best part! Human touch and connection, combined with sleep is fuel for the soul for sure! How can you enhance your sleep this week to give your brain and body a chance to rest?
