Moving to a new community can be both invigorating and traumatic at the same time, The enjoyable aspects of relocating include the idea of fresh paint, a clean slate in the clutter department, and the idea of exploring a new set of local hot spots. The downside, however, is getting lost (certainly less painful now that we have SIRI) and separating from close family and friends. Don't get me wrong, anonymity can be refreshing for a time but in the end we humans are wired for connection.
The idea of meeting new people was never really a challenge for me but allowing myself to be truly seen was. I could listen and make small talk all day long, but at the end of the day I was really lonely. Maybe you can relate. Whether its a work transfer, military move, or simply an adventure turned permanent. Don't give up. Your Peeps are out there!
Now for the good news...I was invited and took a chance on a very kind woman, Tami. Yes, my business partner and very treasured friend Tami. She openly invited me to her small ladies group a few years ago. She assured me (a chronic over-scheduler) that I would not have any homework. I had tried book clubs, fitness groups, and Bible studies and I often felt insecure about falling short in their expectations. These groups were kind and well-meaning too, but in my opinion they were filled wth faster readers, faster runners and more committed women. Ugg! Not my Soul Sister Group! The stage here is set with no expectation other than to be authentic. How cool is that!!
I was sold and these women are a big part of my life now...
So much so, that Tami and I have launched Soul Fuel Company. Together, we have created an online community and products to walk you through the steps to help you connect with yours.
Stay tuned for more!
